In 2009 the STIHL Group was not alone in feeling the consequences of the most severe economic crisis of the post-war period. For the first time in 18 years, both sales and turnover showed a decline – though compared with other companies in the mechanical engineering sector, the drop in turnover can be described as moderate. In addition, we have managed to gain global market share in nearly all product groups.
